Termites

Termites can damage the wooden structure of buildings. Damage can resemble water damaged or rotting wood. Without proper treatment the damage can cause a building to become unstable and become very pricey to fix.

Worker termites, collect food for the colony. Their food consists of cellulose which is the component found in wood.

Swarms occur when colonies produce winged male and female termites in order to reproduce. After these mating flights, fertilized termites shed their wings and go on to establish new colonies. Termites seen flying in a home are a sign of a mature colony.

1 year guarantee included with all termite services. Extended guarantees availablee for an additional fee.

Bergen Pest Management offers two different treatment plans for treating for termites.  Before any treatment can be started we must first survey the property to give an estimate. Then we must contact NJ One Call. They will notify all of the utility company's that we will be drilling around the home. They will mark the areas around the home where any wires, or pipes run in the area we will be drilling. Once the property is marked the treatment can begin.

Traditional

Termicide will be applied into the ground around the perimeter of the home. Where asphalt or concrete is present a 1/2 inch hole will be drilled every foot approximately 6 inches from the structure in order to apply the pesticide. After the treatment, the holes will be filled in with either cement or asphalt patch.

There is no need for anyone to be present during this time unless it is determined treatment inside the home is necessary.

Baiting

Bait stations will be installed around the home and require a 3 inch hole every 10 feet around the perimeter of the home. Stations will first be filled with a monitor. At the next visit we will check the monitors for activity. If it is found that the monitor has termite activity, the monitor will be replaced with bait which will begin to kill the colony when brought back to the nest and eaten.

There is no need for anyone to be present during the treatment unless it is determined treatment inside the home is necessary.
